During my FBP I focused on exploring ways to capture meaningful moments and treasure memories autonomously for later evaluation.
Munin, a wearable AI companion, autonomously collects intangible phone data to understand meaningful user experiences. This enables interaction between the user and AI to create a memento of the memory. Munin aims to test the effectiveness of this approach.
Munin is a wearable AI which autonomously collects accessible intangible phone data. The wearable can be attached to various things using the carabiner. It will trigger upon detection of laughter, indicating a fun time or at manually pressing the button. Then the accessible phone data will be gathered; time, date, location, weather and calendar event. The included temperature and humidity sensor compares the gathered weather data with the measured temperature to determine whether it is located indoors or outdoors.
When the user feels in the mood for exploring their collected memories, they can press and hold the button and ask if Munin collected any memories. Haptic and visual feedback will be given to show that the
device is listening and thinking, after which it will respond with the which memories it collected. Now the user can decide to explore this memory further or discard it. If removal is chosen, the collected data about that memory will be deleted. If chosen for exploring further, Munin will ask a couple of questions based on the collected data. After this conversation about what happened and its importance, a visual will be generated. This visual will appear in the application on the user’s phone.
In the app the user can find all the generated mementos. By clicking on a specific visualization, the data of that memory will be shown, including the time, date and location. Next to that, in the app they can add characters of themselves and friend and family. These will then be used to generate accurate representations of the individuals in future visualizations.
